Alan Treadgold is a retail sector consultant who has worked in most sub-sectors of the retail industry internationally during his 20+ year career. He has extensive experience in the areas of retail strategy, operational model optimization, customer engagement and go-to-market strategy across all touchpoints for retail and FMCG businesses. He has held senior positions in advertising agencies where he was CEO of IdeaWorks, WPP’s retail advertising agency network in Australia/New Zealand, and at Leo Burnett where he was Head of Retail for Australia, UK and North America. He has extensive experience in leading management consulting practices, and has led engagements at the senior executive level with a wide range of clients in retail and related sectors in a large number of country markets. Most recently, he was Partner and Global Head of Retail for PA Consulting. Alan also served as the Director for Retail Strategy at PwC Melbourne, where he developed PwC’s management consulting presence beyond its pre-existing clients, grew PwC’s consulting capabilities into customer-facing and marketing competencies, and secured significant new client wins. He has also developed strategic retail thinking in his roles in business schools in the UK and Australia.
Alan is a member of the Advisory Board of the highly regarded Oxford Institute of Retail Management (OXIRM) at the University of Oxford’s Business School, holds non-executive directorships with two technology enabled marketing businesses in London and Singapore, is a regular keynote speaker at the prestigious World Retail Congress (WRC), and serves on WRC’s judging panel for best store design of the year. In 2017, Oxford University Press published his latest book on the retail industry: “Navigating the New Retail Landscape: A Guide for Business Leaders”.
