Creating efficiencies and improving a consumer products business
Advising a clothing company on its revolutionary path.
The company creates tee-shirts from 100% recycled cotton (the first in the world) designed by everyday people. The company, which focuses on manufacturing while minimizing negative impact on people or the planet needed help with their operations processes.
To help meet its goals, an NMS consultant did extensive research on material, production, and labor costs, and used this research to develop a comprehensive wholesale payment and accounting system. With this system, the client was now able to calculate necessary deposits for wholesale jobs, as well as product pricing per job.
From there, the NMS consultant was able to do product forecasting and make recommendations on which products should be stocked at specific quantities to meet demand. This system was later rolled out to encompass retail operations, as well as company-wide expenses.
In addition, the team member prepared a qualitative analysis of wholesale workflow and created a project management system to regulate the flow of incoming jobs. Moving from email communications to Trello, a system was devised for job acceptance criteria (job deliverables, deposit, delivery time/location, etc.), which also helped identify the necessary individuals and departments who were integral to progression at every step of the process.
The NMS consultant was able to measure max capacity of the wholesale system and make recommendations for the number of jobs possible, as well as forecast waiting and turnaround times for potential clients. This allowed the company to create new efficiencies while meeting its revenue goals.
Some client engagements shown may have been executed by NMS consultants at prior firms.
