Improving operational efficiencies of an industrial assembly factory
Strategic implementations to solve critical business issues proved to be valuable.
This industrial assembly company was facing issues with a new plant manager, who was not properly managing communication among new and seasoned employees. Critical business issues included 40 day lead-times to process RFQs to POs, assembly errors, sales order problems, no accountability for results within teams, lack of contract administrator training, and lost business.
Implementations included Kaizen Events, off-site team building, kick-off and daily meetings, skills assessments, reorganization of departments, backlog reports, and centralized data systems. Â
The results included a much more efficient leadership led by the plant manager, significant improvements in communication, and seasoned employees taking the initiative to train and help new employees. Operational results included a 38 day reduction in lead-times, 24% more contract wins, an inventory reduction of $2.9 million, and workforce reductions that saved $420,000.
